The atw Statistics Report compiled by atw lists 426 nuclear power plants with 366 823 gross MWe in operation in 32 countries in mid 1998. Another 44 units with 36 193 gross MWe were under construction in 17 countries. This adds up to a total of 470 units with an aggregate of 403 016 MWe. In the first half of 1998 three units in two countries were connected to the grid for the first time. In the survey of electricity generation in 1998 a total of 409 nuclear power plants were covered. In the half year under review they generated an aggregate 1 232 893 GWh. The highest nuclear generation again war recorded in the USA with 32 564 GWh, followed by France with 200 218 GWh. The survey includes six tables indicating the generating performance of each nuclear power plant, the development of electricity generation in nuclear plants, and status of nuclear power plants mid of 1998 arranged by countries, types of reactors, and reactor manufacturers

Die Bestandsaufnahme der im ersten Halbjahr 1998 in Betrieb befindlichen Kernkraftwerksbloecke ''Kernkraftwerke Weltuebersicht'' umfasst sechs speziell von der atw-Redaktion letztmalig erstellte Tabellen ueber die Entwicklung auf dem Kernkraftwerkssektor im Laufe des und ueber den Stand am Ende des Halbjahres: 1. Entwicklung der elektrischen Arbeit aus Kernenergie in der Welt von 1970 bis 1998 (1. Halbjahr) nach Laendern. 2. Elektrische Bruttoarbeit der Kernkraftwerksbloecke der Welt im ersten Halbjahr 1998. 3. Kernkraftwerksbloecke der Welt nach Reaktortypen. 4.
