Measurement and analysis of the neutron emission from ICRH and NB heated JET D plasmas using the TOFOR spectrometer

Description

A new time-of-flight (tTOF) neutron spectrometer has been installed at JET and used in its first dedicated experiment to observe neutron emission from deuterium plasmas subjected to NB and NB+RF heating. The heating scenarios such as the NB energy and the RF resonance position were changed to create different neutron emission conditions to test the diagnostic performance of the spectrometer. The instrument is described as well as the analysis employed to extract information on the energy distribution of the incoming neutron flux. Data in the form of measured tTOF spectra are presented as well as the results of the neutron spectral analysis involving bulk and high-energy components of the deuteron population.
