Natural radioactivity of waters of Tsitel-Tskaroj region (East Georgia)

Description

The radioactivity of certain water reservoirs of East Georgia is investigated with the aim of studying the dispersion of natural radioactive elements (238U, 226Ra, 222Rn) and their use to study water genesis. 165 reservoirs-springs and wells are investigated. Threeyear survey show that water regime in waters studied does not practically change in spite of their different depths. There is no dependence of the uranium and radium concentration on the mineralization and depth of water position. Ra content varies from 0.7 to 2.2x10-12 g/l, Rn-does not exceed 22.2 Bq/l (6x10-10 Ci/l), uranium concentration varies in the range of 6.5x10-7 -3.2x10-4 g/l. The value of 226Ba/238U ratio varies from 0.01 to 0.35, while 222Rn/226Ra and 222Rn/238U NV1 from 3 to 190 years ones are high. The age of waters investigated varies
