State of the CTBT

The CTBT, the overall accord of which contains a preamble, 17 treaty articles, two treaty annexes, and a protocol with two annexes detailing verification procedures, seek to prohibit all nuclear weapon test explosions or nuclear explosions anywhere in the world. By the treaty's provisions, a global network of monitoring facilities is sought to be established and allowance is made for onsite inspections of suspicious events in order to verify compliance
