Description

To meet the requirements of oncologic diagnosis, the author studied the qualities of some pharmaceutic drugs, used for colloid scintigraphy of the liver: (1) Complexes, labelled with sup(99m)Tc carrier Rhenium sulphide, stabilized with polyvinyl pyrolidon (Poland) and a set, consisting of freeze-dried mixture of 15 mg sodium phytate (inositol hexaphosphate) and 1 mg stannic bichloride (preparation ''Phyton'' - Hungary); (2) Colloid labelled with sup(113m)In and stabilized with polyvinyl pyrolidon (Poland). Based on the analysis of 1350 scintigrams, the author considers technetium phytate the most appropriate radiopharmaceutic agent for liver scintigraphy. It provides maximal density (as many as 800 impulses per cm2), zones of heterogeneicity in the liver pattern are not observed, extrahepatic fixation is practically absent. Microcolloid is in vivo formed as a soluble compound (sodium phytate-pertechnate) and bound with serum calcium to form micromolecular calcium and technetium phytate, which is phagocytized by the Kupffer cells of the liver. The complex is technically easy to prepare, which is another advantage. (A.B.)
