The luminosities of red supergiant variables in the Small Magellanic Cloud
Description
Infrared photometry for 22 red supergiant variables in the SMC is used to derive bolometric magnitudes. Except for two anomalous objects these fit the period-luminosity relation for massive, core helium burning stars which was previously shown to represent well the LMC red supergiant variables. The J-K colours of the LMC and SMC variables are similar. (author)
