Origin of acid orthoderived and paraderived geologic formations of the central part of the province of Limousin (France). A possible source for uraniferous leucogranite

Important metamorphic formations of the central part of the province of Limousin are studied by chemical investigations for characterization of their primary signature. Four large orthoderived formations are compared: Dronne, Meuzac, and Thaurion arcs and leptynite formations. The typology of the parent magmatism of orthogneiss and leptynite allows to find leack most of plutonic associations known in the Variscan chain (subalkaline, calcoalkaline, aluminous). Interpretation of primary geochemical fractionation in rocks from the Dronne are suggests cogenetism of the whole facies following a fractionated crystallization process. Moreover rocks from the Dronne arc have a peraluminous character with high U and Th content related to subalkaline magmatism which make of them a potential source of uraniferous peraluminous leucogranites. Paraderived formations are represented by 3 mica schist formations and 2 gneiss formations. Each unit is individualized by geochemical study of mica schist. Gneiss formation are chemically distinct. These differences confirm that they belong to distinct lithologic units. Trace elements are used to precise the paleogeotectonic context of original sediment deposition

Les importantes formations metamorphiques du Limousin Central ont fait l'objet d'une etude chimique afin de caracteriser leurs signatures primaires. Quatre grandes formations orthoderivees ont pu etre comparees entre elles: les arcs de la Dronne, de Meuzac et du Thaurion et les formations leptyniques. La typologie du magmatisme parent des orthogneiss et leptynites a permis de retrouver etroitement imbriquees entre elles la plupart des associations plutoniques connues dans la chaine varisque (subalcalin, calcoalcalin, alumineux). L'interpretation des fractionnements geochimiques primaires dans les roches de l'arc de la Dronne suggere le cogenetisme de l'ensemble des facies suivant un processus de cristallisation fractionnee. De plus, les roches de l'arc de la Dronne presentent un caractere peralumineux conjugue a des teneurs en U et Th elevees liees au magmatisme subalcalin fait de l'arc de la Dronne un candidat privilegie pour une source potentielle des leucogranites peralumineux uraniferes. Les formations paraderivees sont representees par trois unites micaschisteuses et deux formations gneissiques. L'etude geochimique des micaschistes permet d'individualiser chacune des unites. Les deux formations gneissiques apparaissent chimiquement distinctes. Ces differences confirment leur appartenance a deux ensembles lithologiques distincts. Enfin, les elements traces, sont utilises pour preciser le contexte paleogeotectonique de depot des sediments originelsFiles
