Description
A renormalization group equation for the effective action of a massive scalar field theory is derived. It significantly restricts the dependence of a probability of the decay of the false vacuum on the phsyical parameters. It is also remarkably useful for the implementation of a certain approximation of finite-temperature effects. Within this approximation one finds mt≅165 GeV if SU(2)xU(1) is broken by barrier penetration and the transition occurs when the probability is maximum. (orig.)
