Pulsed quadrupole magnetic lens

Creators

Description

An impulse quadrupole magnetic lenx is described. It comprises a four-poled magnetic circuit without side yokes and an excitation winding. To decrease the external dimensions of the lens the excitation winding is positioned on the bottom and top yokes and screens made of highly conductive materials are placed in the side slots. In order to improve the optic properties of the lens the top and bottom slots of the magnetic circuit are equipped with screens isolated from the magnetic circuit and the winding above which they are placed; they joined face to face through ring connecting necks. Aiming a decrease of the scattering field, the side screens are joined to the external screen within which the lens is enclosed
