Description
This article looks at two schemes to construct hydroelectric power plants in Brazil. Both projects are jointly funded, partly by the federal power companies which initiated the schemes, and partly by private investment. The system of financing these projects in Florianopolis and Rio de Janeiro, is examined with private investors gaining from their share of the energy output in return for providing the capital needed to complete these massive projects.
