New buildings in radon prone areas

Natural radiation exposure to radon and radon daughters gives the largest contribution to the average doses received by the population. In the last years this has been recognised as a health problem to the general population. In some regions, where high indoor radon levels are expected, special attention should be paid in planning the construction of new buildings in order to keep exposure as low as reasonably achievable and to protect the occupants. Some preventive and practical details to reduce indoor radon in new constructions are presented (author)
