Electricity supply, district heating and supply of natural and gasworks gas 2000

Total domestic use of electricity (including transmission losses) was 146.7 TWh in 2000. This represents an increase of 2.4 per cent compared to 1999. Usage in the household sector fell by 1.8 per cent to 33.7 TWh (including second homes). In contrast, the industry sector (manufacturing industry, mining and quarrying) increased its usage by 3.1 per cent to 57.0 TWh. Deliveries of steam and hot water for district heating were 41.6 TWh, a decrease of 4.9 per cent compared to 1999. Total net production of electricity decreased in 1999 by 5.8 per cent compared to 1999 and amounted to 142.0 TWh. Hydroelectric production increased by 10.1 per cent to 78.0 TWh. The production of conventional thermal power also fell, by 6.0 per cent to 8.8 TWh. Nuclear power contributed 54.8 TWh, a decrease by 22 per cent compared to the previous year. Wind power, however, increased its production by 24.8 per cent to 447 GWh. Imports of electricity increased by 9.8 TWh to 18.3 TWh, but exports decreased by 2.3 TWh to 13.6 TWh. Total deliveries of natural gas to final consumers diminished somewhat in 2000 and amounted to 835 million m3. The mean price of natural gas fell by approximately 13 per cent compared to 1999. Deliveries of gas-works gas fell in 2000 by 0.4 million m3 to 106 million m3. The mean price was about 3 per cent lower than in the preceding year
