Thin YBCO films on different substrates and their use in Josephson junctions and SQUIDs

  • 1. Institut fuer Festkoerperphysik, Friedrich-Schiller-Universitaet Jena, Jena (Germany)

Description

We prepare thin YBCO films by laser deposition on different single and bicrystal substrates including SrTiO3, LaAlO3, CeO2-buffered sapphire and YSZ/CeO2-buffered silicon. The growth process is optimized with respect to deposition parameters. We try to control the energy of incoming particles by temperature measurements directly at the substrate by integrated thermocouple or bolometer structures. Josephson junctions and DC-SQUIDs are prepared from these films by ion beam etching. Their electrical parameters, like temperature dependence of the critical current and response to magnetic field as well as to microwave irradiation are measured. (author)
