Graphics software: from techniques to principles
Description
The development of graphics software is traced by considering important events in three areas. First, the development of techniques in graphics is examined by reviewing both a number of early applications and the principles and software that evolved from these applications. Second, the importance of algorithms is discussed. Historically important algorithms and current research areas are briefly outlined. Finally, the recent quest for standards in graphics software is examined. The history, major driving forces, and status of this quest are reviewed
