Application of electrogenerated iodine (1) in covulometrt for determination of organic compounds

  • 1. Kazanskij Gosudarstvennyj Univ. (USSR)

Description

A study was made on possibility of application of electrogenerated iodine (1) and its halides for analysis of organic compounds using reactions of substitution, addition and oxidation-reduction. Electrogenerated iodine (1) behaves as an electrophilic reagent. It was estab lished that iodine (1) reacts in the electrophilic substitution reactions with benzene, toluene, O-, m-, n-xylenes, nitrobenzene and phenol if an electron-donor group is present as a substituent in an aromatic ring. Two iodine (1) atoms are used for the reaction. The reaction procedure is presented. The interaction rate constants have been determined
