The neutron multiplication of lead at 14 MeV neutron incidence energy

Description
Neutron leakage spectra were measured with time-of-flight and with proton recoil spectroscopy and activation and fission rates were determined for a lead sphere of 4.1 mean-free-path shell thickness fed in its centre with 14-MeV neutrons. The results are compared with calculations based on recent data files and are discussed in connection with previous lead benchmarks. About 10% more neutrons are observed than predicted by calculations. (orig.)
Abstract (German)
An einer Bleikugel von 4,1 mittleren freien Weglaengen Schalendicke, die in ihrem Mittelpunkt mit 14-MeV-Neutronen gespeist wurde, wurden Neutronenausflussspektren mit Flugzeit- und Rueckstoss-Protonenspektrometrie gemessen sowie Aktivierungs- und Spaltraten bestimmt. Die Ergebnisse werden mit Berechnungen verglichen, die auf neueren Datensaetzen basieren, und im Zusammenhang mit frueheren Blei-Benchmarks diskutiert. Es werden etwa 10% mehr Neutronen beobachtet, als durch die Berechnungen vorhergesagt werden. (orig.)Additional details
