Determination of the diagnostic value for three-dimensional CT reconstruction of the head

A major area of application of three-dimensional computed tomography (CT) is in imaging of the head. Three-dimensional CT has an important role in determining the presence and extent of congenital and acquired craniofacial deformities. The authors compared the sensitivity and specificity of three-dimensional CT in the detection and characterization of major craniofacial abnormalities with that of planar CT and cephalometric skull radiography. The results of this study serve to demonstrate the diagnostic value in the three-dimensional reconstruction from CT scans of craniofacial anomalies
