Synergistic effect in extraction of trivalent americium by 1-phenyl-3-methyl-4-benzoyl-pyrazolone-5 and tbp mixtures

Description
The extraction of Am(3) by mixtures of tributhylphosphate and 1-phenyl-3-methyl-4-benzoylpyrazolon-5 in benzene and cyclohexane from solutions of HNO3 is studied. Strong synergism is detected. Equations relating the values of reagent concentrations at a constant concentration of one of them at points of maximum synergism, and equations which permit calculating the value of the latter are derived. The effect of the nature of the solvent and the acidity on the synergim region is investigated
