New mn-made elements as a challenge to experimental and theoretical chemistry
Creators
Description
The paper reviews recent progress in the development of rapid and highly efficient methods and of their physicochemical rationale, as well as in constructing the experimental equipment and setups. The methods are based on the gas-solid chromatography of halides, on the ion exchange chromatography in solutions, and on the extraction; today, they are used for elements 104-106. The obtained information has already stimulated sophisticated relativistic calculations of atoms, molecules and complex ions with the goal of interpreting the available date, but also in attempts of predicting most pronounced relativistic effects. 21 refs., 16 figs., 1 tab
