Radiation and structure of the solar atmosphere

The highlights of advances in the study of the solar atmosphere in recent years are reviewed. Topics included are large scale circulations on the sun, five-minute oscillations on the sun, small scale solar magnetic fields, Alfven waves in the solar atmosphere, energy flow in the chromosphere and corona, coronal holes, and fine structure of the corona and the origin of the solar wind.
