Description
The active photon interrogation is a noninvasive technique in order realize sort or monitoring of radioactive wastes. It consists in using high energy photon,s (over 6 MeV) produced with a linear electrons accelerator to induce on nuclei photo nuclear reactions to transform them in short live radioactive nuclei emitting neutrons or high energy gamma rays. The detection of these radiations must allow the identification of nuclei and to determine their quantity. The new installation Saphir is described. (N.C.)
