Synthesis of 5-alkyl uracils-2-14C and 5-alkyl-2'-deoxyuridines-2-14C

Description
Nucleotides labelled with 14C enable one to study the incorporation of 5-alkyl-2'-deoxyuridine-5'-triphosphates into DNA. In this connection, three methods were investigated for the preparation of 14C-labelled alkyl uracils: two methods for the preparation of 5-alkyl[2-14C] uracils according to the available data and a new method for the preparation of 5-alkyl[4-14C] uracils. Starting from the prepared bases, also prepared were 5-alkyl-2'-deoxy[14C] uridines and [2-14C] thymidine-5'-monophosphate and -5'-triphosphate
