Description

We report Moessbauer and magnetisation studies of spin-reorientation transitions in single-crystal samples of TbFeO3 at 4.2 K, induced by fields up to 10 T. Fields were applied along all three crystal axes and various spin-reorientation effects were observed. These may be explained microscopically in terms of Fe-Tb interactions, perturbation of the Tb3+ ion energy levels, and metamagnetic transitions in the Tb3+ spin subsystem. (orig.)
