Frontal plagiocephaly. Three dimensional CT findings and surgical correction with microplate

Description
Three dimensional computerized tomographic (3D-CT) scans of six children with craniostenosis were compared with high resolution CT scan with bone definition algorithms. Four of them showed frontal plagiocephaly with unilateral coronal synostosis. Bilateral frontal recontouring and supra orbital advancement were performed with the use of a microplate with 2 mm microscrews. Skull deformities secondary to premature suture closure are well visualized with three dimensional CT images. High resolution CT images with bone definition algorithms supply valuable details of pathological changes at the abnormal suture lines. (author)
