Monte Carlo determination of SU(3) lattice wave functionals
Description
An approximate form for the ground state wave functional of four-dimensional euclidean SU(3) lattice gauge theory is determined using Monte Carlo simulation. Two independent techniques are used, with reasonable agreement between them. While the approximate wave functionals reproduce the local structure of the vacuum well, they fail to reproduce correctly the expectation values of moderately sized Wilson loops. Possible remedies and extensions are discussed. (orig.)
