Energy spectra of electrons and protons from the inner earth's radiation belt

Description

A multi-stage mechanism leading to the precipitation of electrons and protons from the inner Earth's radiation belt under the action on the magnetosphere or of structural nonhomogenities of the solar wind or of solar cosmic rays is studied. Simultaneous radio and nuclear experiments at sea level at the point with approximate geographical coordinates 50N36E are planned. The nuclear physics experiment envisages the registration of groups and series of short (0.2 s) bursts of fast neutrons which are produced by the interaction of energetic (≥ 1 GeV) protons with the Earth's atmosphere. The radiophysical experiment includes the registrations of groups and series of short (0.2 s) bursts of high density sporadic radio emission produced by braking of energetic electrons (≥ 1 MeV) precipitating from the inner radiation belt and the measurement of the spectral distribution and of the fine structure of bursts.
