Preliminary study of NNP life extension effectiveness in country extending electricity production exclusively on nuclear power plant production (CSSR case)

Creators

  • 1. International Atomic Energy Agency, Vienna (Austria)

Description

The first units with the reactor of WWER-440 type will come to the end of their planned life in CSSR very shortly after the year 2000. Without the life extension of the first generation of NPPs, the construction of new NPPs should be considerably expanded to cover CSSR national economy demands. A few variants of the Nuclear Power Programme development were analysed to assess the economic impact of NPP life extension using economic criteria used in countries with a central planning economy. Methodological approach and results of analyses are discussed for country scheduling to use nuclear energy only for electricity production expansion
