Description

Nuclear energy is one of the main pillars of global electricity supply. The GHG emissions and radiation impacts from nuclear energy and other energy systems in China were compared. the serious nuclear accidents consequences in the world and the huge progress in nuclear safety today were summarized. the evolution and characteristics of public acceptance for nuclear energy in China were analyzed, and finally suggestion on PEIA (planned environment impact assessment) for nuclear energy development was presented. Nuclear power constitutes one of the most realistic options for supplying energy in a safe. efficient and clean way and simultaneously solving environmental and climate change problems. (author)
