Calibration system of the K2K SciBar detector

Description

The K2K SciBar detector, a fine-segmented tracking calorimeter with 14,400 scintillator strips, was installed in the K2K long-baseline neutrino oscillation experiment. Scintillating light is collected by wavelength shifting fibers, and read out by Multi-anode PMT (MAPMT)s. In order to monitor the stability of all 14,400 channels, a gain calibration system with blue LEDs, clear fibers, PIN photo-diodes and light-distribution cylinders is developed. This system is already working and monitoring the gain drift at 0.1% accuracy. (author)
