The Relation Between the Interatomic Forces and the Frequencies of Symmetry Phonons in Cubic Crystals
Description
Measurements of the frequencies of normal modes in a crystal are often made for phonons whose wave vectors have some special symmetry position in the reciprocal lattice. The extent to which the interatomic force constants can be determined from such measurements has been investigated for face-centred and body-centred cubic crystals. (author)
Abstract (French)
Les frequences des modes normaux d'un cristal sont souvent mesurees pour les phonons dont les vecteurs d'onde occupent une position symetrique particuliere dans le reseau reciproque. La question de savoir a quel point il est possible de determiner les constantes des forces interatomiques au moyen de telles mesures a ete etudiee pour des cristaux a faces centrees et pour des cristaux cubiques centres. En muchos casos se miden las frecuencias de modos normales de un cristal para fonones cuyos vectores de onda acupan una posicion simetrica especial en la red reciproca. El autor investigo la medida en que estas constantes de fuerzas interatomicas pueden determinarse basandose en mediciones para cristales cubicos centrados en las caras y cristales cubicos centrados en el cuerpo. .
