On a correct hydrogen identification in the mass spectra obtained by using an omegatron gas analyzer of the IPDO type

Description

In the analysis of gases in vacuum systems by means of omegatron mass-spectrometers of the IPDOtype the difficulty occurs in indentifying hydrogen from the peak with m/e=2 in mass spectrum because of possible appearance of a false helium peak. It is proposed to use the peak with m/e=3 for identifying hydrogen in the presence of helium. The dependence of three-atom hydrogen ion content on hydrogen pressure in the pressure range 10-7 to 10-5 torr is measured
