Evaluation of flux synthesis algorithms

Description

The flux synthesis algorithm which is the best fit to the numerical solution of the multigroup diffusion equations, was determined. Three different types of synthesis were studied: 1) discontinuous synthesis 2) continuous synthesis 3) pseudo-continuous synthesis. A matrix and a differential formulation were developed for the first two types of synthesis. For pseudo-continuous synthesis only the matrix formulation was used. Some tests were performed and the results allowed us to establish the following order of efficiency for the algorithms: 1) continuous synthesis (matrix formulation) 2) continuous synthesis (differential formulation) 3) pseudo-continuous synthesis 4) discontinuous synthesis (matrix formulation) 5) discontinuous synthesis (differential formulation). Abstract (Portuguese)

Determinou-se o algoritmo de sintese de fluxo mais adequado a resolucao numerica de problemas de multigrupo-difusao. Para isto foram estudados tres tipos de sintese: 1) sintese descontinua 2) sintese continua 3) sintese pseudo-continua. Para os dois primeiros tipos de sintese foram elaborados algoritmos em duas formulacoes: diferencial e matricial. Para sintese pseudo-continua somente a formulacao matricial foi utilizada. Os resultados obtidos nos testes efetuados permitem estabelecer a seguinte ordem de eficiencia para estes algoritmos: 1) sintese continua (formulacao matricial) 2) sintese continua (formulacao diferencial) 3) sintese pseudo-continua 4) sintese descontinua (formulacao matricial) 5) sintese descontinua (formulacao diferencial).
