Polarity of electric power pulses during γ-α transformation in Fe-Ni alloys
Description
Aimed to clarity the origin of thermoelectrical phenomena in Fe-Ni alloys during martensitic transformations the experiments were conducted on straight and U-like wire specimens of Fe-31 wt.%Ni alloy. Specimens were immersed in liquid nitrogen and emf-pulse registration was accomplished for various cooling conditions. Martensitic transformation proceeded in a cooled part of specimen with heat release. A temperature rise was registered by austenite-martensite thermocouples which occurred under rapid couling of wire specimens at interphase boundaries. Emf pulse polarity was shown to depend on relative positions of α- and γ- phases
