Plain and Gd-DTPA-enhanced MR imaging in oropharyngeal tumors

Description
This paper demonstrates the normal anatomy of the oropharynx and to show characteristics of different tumors, correlating plain and Gd-DTPA-enhanced MR imaging. One hundred twenty-six patients suffering from squamous cell carcinomas of the tongue, tongue base, and the vallecular, Kaposi sarcomas, and benign lesions, such as adenomas and inflammatory changes, were examined. Images were obtained with plain and Gd-DTPA-enhanced T1-weighted (TR/TE = 500/25) and plain T2-weighted (TR/TE = 1,600/90) sequences in three orientations
