Argentina. Annex I [Approach for estimating potential exposures]

Description

The Argentine Nuclear Regulatory Authority (ARN) has defined an Acceptability Criterion Curve (a function) against which the nuclear safety level of a nuclear power plant can be assessed. The criterion is based on the individual radiological risk limitation quantified in terms of probability and it is related to the dose limitation system recommended by the International Commission on Radiological Protection for protection against exposures to ionizing radiation resulting from normal operation. The objective of the Acceptability Criterion is to limit the individual risk to members of the public associated with potential exposures that could originate from living in the proximity of a nuclear facility to values not greater than the individual risk associated with exposures from normal operations.
