Description
Net ionisation cross sections of He, Ne and Ar atoms by 1.05 MeV amu-1 highly charged Hesup(q+) (q = 1,2), Csup(q+) (q = 2-6), Osup(q+) (q = 2,3,5-8), Nesup(q+) (q =2,6-10) and Arsup(q+) (q = 4,6, 10-14) ion impact were measured using the parallel-plate condenser method. From these experimental results, the authors obtained projectile charge state, q, and effective charge, qsub(eff), scaling laws for ionisation valid for a wide variety of the projectiles for each rare-gas target, and discussed them in connection with the classical trajectory Monte Carlo calculation, with special emphasis on scaling laws. Generally, the results are in agreement with the calculation of previous workers. (author)
