Description

The kinetics and thermodynamics of metal ions (Sr/sup 2+/Sm/sup 3+/, Gd/sup 3+/, Th/sup 4+/ and UO/sub 2/sup 2+/) adsorption form aqueous solutions on activated charcoal have been investigated. The adsorption process of metal ions proceeds via two stages, the first stage in rather fast followed by a much slower one bang ham equation was applied to study the kinetics of metal ions adsorptions. It is observed that the diffusion of metal ions into the micropores of the activated charcoal controls the kinetics of the adsorption process. Various thermodynamics quantities, delta h, delta s, delta g, were ions on activated charcoal in an endothermic process. (author)
