Coal instead of nuclear energy

The question concerning the need for a nuclear energy moratorium, also posed by those not absolutely against nuclear energy, is a thing of the past. A moratorium of this kind already exists; it is its extent which needs further discussion. In this conext the question arises to what degree, or under which conditions, an increased use of coal can compensate for delays in the construction of more nuclear power plants. In the long run it does not seem possible to either do without coal or nuclear energy. (orig.)
