TNO research activities on ferritic steels for LMFBR steam generators

  • 1. Nijverheidsorganisatie TNO, Apeldoorn (Netherlands)

Description

The niobium stabilized 2 1/4Cr1Mo-steel showed satisfactory regarding hot cracking, cold cracking and reheat embrittlement. The sensitivity to hot and cold cracking is very low; some tendency for reheat embrittlement could be related to carbon level. Other chromium molybdenum steels showed low to moderate hot cracking susceptibility. The unstabilized 2 1/4Cr1Mo showed decarburization after 2000 h exposure at 5200C; 9Cr1Mo steel showed some chromium depletion at 5500C in sodium. (author)
