Description
The present investigation is focused on: 1)- The Zr rich corner of the Zr Nb Sn ternary system, which is the base of the Zirlo alloy (Zr-1Nb-1Sn-0.1Fe-0.10). Three ingots with Zr-5Nb-5Sn, Zr-10Nb-15Sn and Zr-10Nb-30Sn were prepared in an arc furnace with W electrode in a high purity argon atmosphere; 2)- The Zr-36Nb-27Fe ternary alloy in order to identify some of the Zirlo alloys precipitates. The different phases are studied by X-ray, microprobe analysis and metallographic techniques. (author)
