Model of the quark-quark interaction

  • 1. Institute of Theoretical Physics, Academy of Sciences of the USSR

Description

We present a simple phenomenological model describing the interaction between quarks. The model is similar in form to the monopole confinement scenarios, but glueball fields play the role of the independent degrees of freedom. The interaction energy between two quarks calculated in the model agrees closely with the available QCD Monte Carlo simulation results. Emphasis is given to a study of the effect of lattice artifacts on the various physical quantities. This analysis is important in order to estimate the systematic errors in the QCD Monte Carlo simulations. A simple interpolation formula is obtained for the Wilson expectation value for a quark moving along an arbitrary closed smooth world line
