On the possible refinement of a space group of a mineral by analyzing the selection rules for vibrational spectra

  • 1. Joint Institute for Geology, Geophysics and Mineralogy, Siberian Division, Russian Academy of Sciences, Novosibirsk (Russian Federation)

Description

A method for determining the space group by analyzing the selection rules for infrared and Raman spectra and comparing them with the corresponding experimental data is suggested. The method provides for the elimination of ambiguity arising the crystal structure by several space groups characterized by the identical systematic absences of diffraction reflections
