The role of the yrast line in heavy ion fusion
Description
Yrast lines for light nuclei have been calculated with the Strutinsky procedure for rotating nuclei. It is found that in all cases analyzed the yrast line lies below the empirical fusion band. However, level-density limitations may be effective in certain cases to limit fusion at high energies. (orig.)
