Description
This chapter outlines the history of nuclear regulation in the US and UK to highlight the differences in approach between these countries in the licensing and planning of nuclear power plants. It is suggested that nuclear power is being used as a means of centralising and retaining political power. The authors advocate reform of the regulations governing nuclear plants including the siting of new plants. (UK)
