Tightness qualification. The valors of radioactive tracers

Creators

  • 1. CEA Grenoble, 38 - Grenoble (France). Dept. des Applications et de la Metrologie des Rayonnements Ionisants

Description

Radioactive tracer techniques are evoked which are used to quantify infinitesimal small amounts of leaked material through confinement layers like cements, clays glass, painting materials and even condoms. Flux curves are established and diffusion and permeability coefficients are determined. The measured values can also be interpreted in terms of physical processes like ion exchange, adsorption, precipitation or dissolution phenomena. (C.B.)
