Adsorbent for radioactive nuclide and manufacturing method therefor and devoluming method for radioactive waste

Description

Radioactive liquid wastes containing radioactive nuclides is subjected to an adsorbing treatment by using an adsorbent comprising inorganic fibers substituted with glass partially or entirely and fibrous active carbon. Then, burning treatment is conducted at a temperature higher than the ignition point of the fibrous active carbon to burn the fibrous active carbon. The glass is melted at a temperature higher than the melting point of the glass, and then solidified by cooling. With such procedures, a solidification material containing radioactive burning residues can be formed. The molding material is excellent in shape retainability and burning property with no scattering of adsorbed radioactive nuclides. In addition, devoluming ratio thereof after the burning is great.
