Creators
- 1. CEA Centre d'Etudes de Fontenay-aux-Roses, 92 (France)
Description
France undergoes an average of four strong earth tremors in a century. The French seismic evaluation bureau for nuclear facilities safety (IPSN) is in charge of studying the seismic risks in France, and more especially with the risks related to nuclear facility sites: archaeological researches, studies on morpho-structural anomalies and geological models and seismic monitoring programs are conducted in order to identify the active geological fractures and their eventual seismic intensity, and the potential effects on underground nuclear storage. Researches are also conducted in cooperation with foreign universities or organisms
