Molecular nitrogen formation by electron-beam processing of flue gas

Description
The irradiation of combustion flue gas with electrons leads to simultaneous oxidation of NOx and SO2. Upon ammonia addition, the major product is a mixed ammonium nitrate/sulfate aerosol. In side reactions, NO is reduced to molecular nitrogen. Experiment and numerical model agree quantitatively. Further studies are proposed. (author)
