Energy spectra of secondary ion emission of nickel near the Curie point

Description
A two-channel technique is used to study the temperature dependence of the total yield of nickel ions obtained at the bombardment of a (111) Ni single crystal with neon ions (the initial energy is 5 keV). It is found that at a magnetic phase transition the sputtered-ion emission decreases. It is found that an increase of the temperature of the target, the Curie point included, leads to a change in the energy spectra, namely, a decrease of the energy-peak intensity, an increase of the most probable energy, an increase of the half-width of the peak at its half-height
