Influence of the third component on glass forming ability of Ni-Mo alloys
Description
A study was made into the influence of B, P, Si, Zr on the tendency to amorphization in Ni-Mo alloys. It was shown that introduction of above-mentioned elements in amounts less than 20 at.% results in a decrease of liquidus and solids temperatures in Ni65Mo35 alloy. Ternary alloys with boron or phosphorus can be obtained in the form of rather long sheets with amorphous or amorphous-crystalline structure using the method of melt spinning. Ternary near-eutectic Ni70Mo10P20 and Ni70Mo10B20 alloys possess the highest glass forming ability. 5 refs
